It’s early May, and that means it’s time once again for the Northville Eclipse BBC to take the field. For their opening game the Eclipse welcomed their friends the Early Risers BBC of Detroit to the Inaugural match of the season.
The match started like the weather for the home team, cold & bleak, only amassing 2 hits in the first two rounds and finding themselves trailing early by a score of 2-0. But by the middle half of the 3rd round the timber finally warmed up. Chip, Cuppa and Stitch starting the striking barrage which saw 13 ballists come to the plate, tallying 8 times.
As the game progressed into the 6th round we saw Mother Nature make her presence known, wet conditions met with some solidly struck balls creating a rally for the visitors and moving the score to Eclipse 10, Early Riser 8. Yet once again the Trio of Chip, Cuppa and Stitch would spark another rally in the bottom half of the 6th round, tallying another 3.
After a short quick 7th round by the Early Risers, the Eclipse strikers would add an additional 5 tally’s to the scoreboard and put the match out of reach for the team from Detroit.
Final Score Northville Eclipse 18, the Early Risers BBC of Detroit 10.
The Eclipse were lead by the fine striking of Chip, Stitch and Kid who each had 4 knocks, and the Early risers were lead by their leadoff hitter Pickles who slashed 5 knocks on the day.
Next match is set for May 18th at 2pm against the Rochester Grangers at the friendly field at Mill Race Village
